I’m pretty low-maintenance when it comes to packing for a trip, especially in regards to my beauty regimen. That being said, there are a handful of luxuries I can’t live without, whether at home or abroad.
Grand Central Beauty
I travel back and forth from the east and west coast pretty consistently, and this is the only line I’ve used that keeps my skin clear no matter what environment I’m in.
I love it because it’s simple — there’s three products in the line that are easy to use, making it super easy to pack in your bag. My favorite is a 15-minute facial treatment that converts to fit into a travel-size container, a system that makes it easy enough to use no matter where you’re going.
Extra perks: It’s a New York brand, made in the USA. The company is run by two women who are extremely passionate about what they do. Plus — the products are never tested on animals.

Kesh Pure Argan Oil
If you’ve never used 100% pure Argan oil, you’re missing out. No matter the texture of your hair, argan oil will smooth it down and keep it soft and silky. You can also use it on your skin (and it won’t clog your pores). The Kesh line is made from organic cold-pressed Moroccan argan oil — with absolutely nothing else added.
Founded by a New York City woman with Moroccan roots, Kesh beauty products are sourced from a cooperative in southern Morocco where Berber women extract oil from argan fruit trees. Kesh Beauty is committed to responsible sourcing. They only produce oil that’s harvested from fair trade cooperatives — so the line improves the lives of local women by increasing their socio-economic status, raising their standard of living and teaching them to manage their own finances.

Crystal Chimera is a Brooklyn-based handmade jewelry line, but Jen, the founder also has a knack for any DIY project you throw her way. A personal favorite of mine is her shea butter lotion, the perfect tiny little bottle of everything you need for your skin. It’s made using raw African shea bitter, mango seed butter, argan oil, organic virigin coconut oil, vitamin E and jasmine oil. A little of this goes a long way, which is ideal for any trip.
Bonus: Crystal Chimera stocks Jen’s own handmade jewelry, as well as select brass pieces that are cast in Thailand by Bangkok-based artist, Woot. Visit her site here.
j.f. Lazartigue Color Reflecting Conditioner
I’m very, very, very particular about my hair. I’m a little high maintenance, I get it. I care about keeping my color in the exact shade I want, which is why I love j.f. Lazartigue’s color reflecting conditioner. Essentially make-up for your hair, the conditioner deposits a toner with high-pigmented color, so you can switch up the shade of your hair for 3-5 washes. I have strong loyalties to my white-blonde hair (and an aversion to changes in water quality) — so I swear by the silver conditioner and will never travel without it.
Also cool — j.f. Lazartigue is a family-owned company based out of France.
Okay — mascara is the one piece of make-up I just don’t think I can live without. I’m usually pretty minimal when it comes to make-up, but I do love mascara. Usually when I’m abroad, I don’t wear any make-up except if I’m going out, and mascara gives me the little extra oomph for a boost of confidence. It’s the little things, you guys.
Enjoy Conditioning Spray
I love this lightweight, leave-in spray because it detangles, and adds moisture and protection, making it a one-stop shop for air-drying your hair. Bye, bye styling tools.
Bonus: Enjoy is one of the few haircare lines I know of that pH balances all of their products, which means that your hair is way more manageable — no matter where you are or what the weather is.
Enjoy products are made in the USA and the products are never tested on animals.
Trilogy Everything Balm
The Trilogy line was created based on a very “back to basics” mentality, which I love. Everything in the line is natural and organic, and made without any GMOs. On top of that, each product is made using ethical trade practices and it’s also certified carbon-neutral.
I love the Everything Balm, which you can use for (you guessed it)… literally everything. It’s great for nourishing and protecting skin, as a chapstick, for cuticle care, melting massage oil, and the list goes on… Pack this tiny gem in your bag; you can thank me later.
Perfume is one of those luxuries from home that isn’t needed when traveling abroad, but it’s definitely a comfort that can remind you of home.
What I love about the company: In order to maintain freshness, Le Labo crafts all of their fragrances in store, right in front of you. Each fragrance is made up of only the highest caliber ingredients; my own personal favorite, for example, has rose petals plucked by hand in Grasse. Le Labo also stocks solid perfumes/colognes, which are perfect for anyone on the go.
The Kevin Murphy line is made using products from companies that use micro-cultivation, organic growing practices and ecologically sound harvesting techniques. All Kevin Murphy hair products are sulphate-free, paraben-free and cruelty-free.
I’m currently obsessed with the Plumping.Wash shampoo and conditioner, but I also love the Blonde.Angel and Young.Again lines. I love their travel-sized containers because there’s enough product to last several weeks, plus they’re packaged in rectangle-shaped containers, which makes them super easy to pack.
